What good would an intelligent explanation do?
Why am I telling you this?
I started blogging in 2009, but in October 2016, I ditched the previous posts in a fit of cyber housecleaning. Some of it was really nice writing, but alas, as my old friend Susan once said: ‘Compulsion is a cruel master’.

Oh my! What happened? Last night 10pm Maritime time 11pm your time I started to realize something terribly wrong was happening. What is obvious is that the USA is terribly divided on many fronts. The ugly side was shown and it is scary. Expectations from the base is so high that if Trump cannot deliver and he will have a great deal of difficulty delivering, there is going to be a lot of bitterness on top of what already exist. There will also be settling of scores within the Republican party and those Trump insulted, nothing is forgiven. As for Hillary she is not going to jail despite what Trump said.
There will also be consequences for us in Canada since we are the USA biggest trade partner. Canadians are dismayed by what happened, not the USA I knew for sure.

Well, it may be the USA you thought you knew. . . . I’m not so sure that our record before Trump is so admirable. We have never reacted to “the other” in an admirable way, beginning with the Salem witch trials and further back to the “Pilgrims” having the heads of four Native Americans on poles mounted over the gates into the Plymouth Colony. I offer Jim Crow laws in the American South, our treatment of Native Americans, and McCarthyism in the 1950s. as examples. Even before the Trump campaign began there was a serious anti-Hispanic immigration attitude growing.
